Bruins Go 6-0 on Road Trip for First Time since 1972

The Bruins ended their six game road trip with a W last night in Ottawa.  Nathan Horton tallied the lone goal of the game and Tuukka Rask finished the game with 33 saves, including the biggest save of the night on a break-away chance by Jason Spezza.  Tuukka Rask notched his eighth shutout of his career and second of this season.  He came up big in third period proving to be the best penalty killer on the ice for two power-play opportunities by the Sens.  He also denied the flurry of shots by Ottawa in the last minute as they pulled their goalie in attempt to tie the game.

The Bruins now have a six point edge over Montreal in their division and sit tied with Tampa Bay for second overall in the East.  The B's will host the Lightening Thursday night in a battle for second place.

This six game sweep of a tough road trip is the first time the B's accomplished such a feat since 1972; coincidently, they won the Stanley Cup that year.  Cam Neely came out with his own version of NHL power rankings, placing his B's fourth on that list.  The Boston bruisers have yet to lose since making their moves at the dead-line.  They are not a top-heavy team, having zero stars on the squad; but they are very deep.  They can roll all four lines out there and not expect to have a disadvantage on the ice.  I really like the B's chances heading down the stretch.  The Krejci line needs to keep playing the way they have, and Peverley and Kelly seem to be jelling well on the third line with Michael Ryder.  They need to keep working together as a team.  They don't have that one player, such as a Crosby, to put it in the net when the offense seems to be stalling.  If they continue this Patriot-like attitude, one for all and all for one, I can see our beloved B's making a Stanley Cup run.
