Chiarelli Makes a Move...New Look Bruins Head to Ottawa

Peter Chiarelli Finally made a move that will benefit the current Bruins rather than the future.  The B's are notorious for not being aggresive in order to upgrade their current roster.  Instead, they stock-pile draft picks.  They finally pulled the trigger acquiring Maple Leafs defensemen Thomas Kaberle in exchange for prospect Joe Colborne, the B's first round pick in the upcoming draft, and a conditional second rounder.  (The Leafs will receive the B's second round pick if one of two things happen: The Bruins make it to the Stanley Cup this season, or they sign Kaberle to an extension at the seasons end).   Showing no signs of slowing down, Chiarelli  also acquired forward Rich Peverley and defensemen Boris Valabrik (who will be assigned to Providence) in exchange for Blake Wheeler and Mark Stuart.

I am 100% for both of these moves.  Kaberle is a proven defensemen in this league, and the B's need some stability at the blue line.  Kaberele (who has 35 assissts this seasons) will be huge for the B's on the man advantage.  This still leaves the Bruins with seven defensemen on their roster.  Most likely, Mcquaid and Kampfer will be alternating as the healthy scratch until one shows some consistancy.

Peverley has compiled 14 goals and 20 assissts for the Thrashers this season.  His 14 goals ties him with Nathan Horton on the B's.  Peverley knows how to make plays and knows how to put the puck in the net.  I think he'll be a great third line player and also contribute on the power play.  With the B's also picking up Chris Kelly, that means they have an extra forward who needs to be stratched.  The only two candidates that come to mind are the young talented Seguin, and Danielle Paille.  I'd hate to see the rook get the hook, but Paille has been playing well on the fourth unit along side the two mainstays; Thorton and Campbell.  We'll see what Claude choses to do.  My guess is a revolving door until he finds consistancy; much like on the blue line.

Kaberele and Kelly are going to dress for the B's tonight as they head to Ottawa to take on the Sentators.  Peverley isn't going to join the team tonight but I'm sure he'll be dressed in black and gold for their next game.

I guess Chiarelli finally realized sometimes you have to be buyers not sellers. Time for a playoff push. Lets gooo!
